Abstract

Abstract - The traditional building scaffold has been considered in the past time a unitary system able to perform in a connected way a static role and a filter towards the external climatic environment. Moreover, it has provided services verified by the experience in which the technological advancements were dictated by the cultural changes. The coming of new materials determined the specialization of the various components of the building scaffold and prompted to design the specificities of each of them. In this context, the subject of “energetic requalification” of the current building estate, identify two sides of a problem, whereas on the one hand it supposes the usage of new and not fully experimented materials , on the other hand it requires to face this changement in a short period of time, a fact which has never been previously afforded in the building activity. The peculiar aspect to investigate concerns the way any intervention on the current building estate can be integrated to the building activities operating in the fields of salvage and maintenance. Furthermore, in the recent past , a growing interest has been raised on the possibility to transform the building scaffold in an active element, able to utilize the energetic sources of the external environment for the purpose of internal air-conditioning. The technological answers to this problem have probably determined the most known , diffuse and deeply investigated aspects of this topic. Solar panels, serre, Trombe walls, skylights and window glazing for direct solar gain represent a wide array of solutions which are easily aknowledged. It is more difficult , and it has been less thoroughly investigated the problem of inserting these new elements in the projectual processing, taking into account the natural and historical characteristics of the environment together with the cultural and social aspects wich are derived. At methodological level , the energetic requalification of a building scaffold requires the establishment of well designed intervention through the following steps : - technological analysis of the building - identification of the typological characters. - definition of the energetic parameters - definition of the critical factors and of the priority of intervention - evaluation of the cost/benefit balance - accomplishment of the building intervention
