A method for the simultaneous determination of di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate and its major metabolite mono(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate in human plasma by high-performance liquid chromatography is described. The procedure, linear in the concentration range 0.05-5.0 ppm, is simple and rapid and allows accurate and precise results. The limits of detection for di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate and mono(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate were 0.05 ppm.
