Abstract

"The theme of Reconstructìon has arisen in Abruzzo as the result of the Aprii 6'h 2009 earth - quake. This argument today, applied inhumanized context where the minor urban fabric has a larger dimension, brings us to confront with known 'rules' of building rehabilitation and sustaìnabìlìty. With these concepts the built environment, especìally the hìstorìcal one, has often had to deal with, starting from their typologìcal - functional, formai and technological nature - at the different levels of intervention.Beyond superfluous ideologica! conflicts, the project of rehabilitation on built heritage, has to be responsible, able to track operation al guidelines marked by a research of new compatibility condìtions between technological innovation, functional needs, energy efficiency and conservation\\\/enhancement of existing resources. So, a centrai role assumes the decoding of ali the characterizing aspects of this complex built heritage, that the catastrophic natural event has helped to change sudden ly, not only in the constructive aspects that the tradition handed down to us but those of a 'controlled transformation' too. This put into play the energy behaviour of the materiai parts of these old structures, as well as ali its problems to contain as far as possible without producing irreversible changes. To this end is necessary develop methodological and oper ational tools that, starting from the identification and classification of the minor centres of the crater, representative of the drastic changes which have occurred, are able to identify the modalities of intervention compatible with the recognized values of the built-up areas and of the public spaces. The aim is to identify strategies for the revival of a part of the Abruzzo Region focused on an increase of the levels of quality of the settlements, achieved through the rationalìzation of the use of the building heritage available, the exploitatìon of renewable energy, improvement of the seìsmic safety, in order to avoìd the depopulation and abandonment risk.\""
