ABSTRACT: On Aprii 6th 2009 an earthquake caused the destruction of many minor centres in the Abruzzo Region, causing serious damage and, in many cases, the loss of the urban fabric. These minor centres represent the region's social and cultural heritage, thanks to the presence of historical, environmental, spatial, values. For this reason, the Commissioner who had the task of managing the post seismic reconstruction of historical centres, STM has established guidelines to project the so-called "Reconstruction Plan". In these plans no attention is given to the sustainability aspects so the research activity wanted to understand how to operate in these minor centres to develop solutions able to improve not only the earthquake resistance but also the energy efficiency, the comfort conditions of contemporary users, the exploitation of the renewable energy. This methodology is based on a "multi-layer" information structure that requires a huge amount of data acquisition and management (Boeri et al., 2016) and allows to develop a matrix to support the design process, thanks to which the designer can choose the strategies that are compatible with the specific building l building aggregate object of the rehabilitation intervention. This metodology has been tested on a case study. The originality and the contribution of our study lies in the search to implement, in a balanced manner, building rehabilitation l consolidation and the introduction of sustainable princitples in the difficult process of reconstruction.
