Abstract

In this paper the repeatability and reproducibility of the traditional method for pottery prole detection is compared with those of a new automatic approach. The traditional method usually implied some unreliabilities regarding measurement. The proposed one intends to shorten them estimating proles algorithmically, through a high-density model of the sherd. Archaeologists describe fragments features taking into account particular criteria. They are considered in this work, allowing a comparison between the two methods. Results are analyzed and critically discussed.
