The paper outlines experimental work undertaken using GIS 3D aimed at verifying the results of a highly complex project, namely the reintegration of architectural and urban lacunae in the historic centre of Castelvecchio Calvisio. The research project was undertaken in view of the critical conditions found during preparation of the Reconstruction Plan in the aftermath of the L’Aquila earthquake of April 2009.
