The objective of this work is to descrive Fibrous Displasia (FD) of the bone, with particolar reference to the maxillo-odontostomatology district, in light of recent scientific discoveries, which makes an entirely new pathology. In this context, numerous aspects of this desease have been evaluated, for example classification within the bony lesions of the craniofacial skeleton, epidemiology, eziology, histological and radiographical aspects, clinical symptoms and therapeutic possibilities, also throught the observation of patients effects from such illness. All of this has been done focusing the attention on the important scientific discoveries, in the last years, due to various research that has deepened and clarified numerous aspects of this pathology. Fibrous Dysplasia is without doubt a genetic illness in which the specific genetic mutation and the mechanism of molecular pathology are known from the onset. Also, some specific histological aspects that allow the differential diagnosis from the other pathologies of the craniofacial bones, and furnish important elements for diagnosis. The onset in the craniofacial area and in the maxillary bones is not a rare occurence. The data recently furnished from the research and of the characteristic aspects of this bony illness for the formulation of a correct diagnosis is important in our opinion.
