Abstract

The Bank of Italy’s District was built in L’Aquila starting from 1939 in connection with the banknote printing workshop (Officine Carte Valori) and a new headquarter of the Bank. The project, partially completed in the 1950s and heavily damaged by the earthquake of 2009, represents an interesting example starting from the location, the planimetric articulation and the identification of typological solutions corresponding to the different social classes and gender (‘casa minima’). Furthermore, it offers element of reflection on the capacity for social and integrative resilience, recovery and integration.
