Nuovi assetti insediativi ed effetti sulla produttività agricola. Uno studio sull’area padana

At a time when wars and pandemics have disrupted the world order and deeply damaged international agreements, more and more people are hearing about energy independence and the food sovereignty of Nation States. To achieve these goals, the time is certainly not fast, but it is also clear that policies pertaining to the management and direction of land use and land cover must take these important aspects into account. The oversizing of urban areas, illogically present in almost all municipal urban plans regardless of their geographic location, current demographic dynamics, and the historical- cultural and environmental values of the administered territory, certainly constitutes an obstacle to sustainable land management. This work analyzes the effects on agricultural productivity of the urban forecasts by the plans of the municipalities in the provinces of Modena and Reggio nell’Emilia, highlighting their impacts in terms of economic loss and land consumption.
