Land protection is essential for insect conservation. Protected areas may represent the last bastions for the conservation of many species, especially under ongoing climate change, if they are appropriately located and managed. The role of the surrounding non-protected areas should also be carefully evaluated. Since insects are rarely considered in protected area planning, current protected networks may fail in protecting important sites for insect conservation and management. It is therefore essential that insects are explicitly considered in protected area selection. Furthermore, protected areas play crucial roles in promoting insect research and public awareness of the importance of insect conservation.

Abstract
Land protection is essential for insect conservation. Protected areas may represent the last bastions for the conservation of many species, especially under ongoing climate change, if they are appropriately located and managed. The role of the surrounding non-protected areas should also be carefully evaluated. Since insects are rarely considered in protected area planning, current protected networks may fail in protecting important sites for insect conservation and management. It is therefore essential that insects are explicitly considered in protected area selection. Furthermore, protected areas play crucial roles in promoting insect research and public awareness of the importance of insect conservation.Pubblicazioni consigliate
