The paper addresses the ecologically oriented design of a small forestation inside an urban tissue in the view of the problems of urban heating. The feasibility studies on university campus in L'Aquila (Italy) are used for reflecting on a development from a small-scale planning action to a broader reconfiguration of multiple green areas inside a highly urbanized area. The paper highlights potentiality of analytical tools in urban planning in the view of even more consistent and sustainable strategical approaches that consider open spaces and green connections potentialities inside the planning processes.

Abstract
