Abstract
Building information models conceived as the foundation of digital twins have become central to the governance of the built environment, and this was among the strategies pursued by the Tecnodigit research project, which sought to embed sensor data within BIM environments so as to raise the safety and sustainability of the assets involved. Among its case studies, the experimental halls of the National Gran Sasso Laboratories stand out for both their subterranean setting and their hybrid typology, in which architectural objects coexist with infrastructural ones. Because the apparatus employed for particle-physics experiments is predominantly of steel, the modelling effort was directed at reproducing the as-built reliability and definition of the structural members, whilst aligning the information structure with the ISO/IEC 81346 classification and its hierarchy. The contribution reports on the information modelling of the constructions housed in the central tunnel of the LNGS and on the procedure devised to assemble a federated model suited to digital-twin applications.Pubblicazioni consigliate
