This paper is focused on settlement prediction for design of a cut-and-cover tunnel, part of an important high-speed railway line. The tunnel, provided with a compensated foundation, is built by staged construction in an open pit excavation below the water table. The method and results of analysis of consolidation under staged construction are presented and discussed.
